Administrators announce closure of remaining Haldanes stores

Brendan Guilfoyle and Chris White of The P&A Partnership, who were appointed joint administrators of Haldanes Stores Limited and Ruston Retail Limited on 22 June, have announced the closure of the remaining three stores.

All 26 stores in Scotland and England have now ceased trading and all employees of the remaining three stores in Tattershall, Wigton and Crieff  made redundant.

Brendan Guilfoyle said, “This is an incredibly difficult time for retailers and particularly bad week for the high street with big players Thorntons, Jane Norman, Habitat and TJ Hughes announcing major closures. Official figures showed retail sales fell by 1.4% in value and volume last month, with analysts blaming a squeeze on take-home pay and job uncertainty for the decline.

“Our priority is to help those made redundant. We have set up a website and provided information packs to former Haldanes staff.  These resources give them guidance and advice on entitlements, including how to make claims to the Redundancy Payments Office. We are also working with the unions to keep them updated on what support is available.”

Brendan Guilfoyle confirmed that Haldane Retail Group Limited, UGO Stores Limited, Haldanes Express Limited and Bakery Products Limited are unaffected by the administration and are trading as usual.
