Brendan Guilfoyle, partner at The P&A Partnership who led the rescues of Bradford Bulls, Plymouth Argyle, Crystal Palace and Luton Town, will be speaking at a free breakfast event for business professionals in Coventry at the Ricoh Arena on 20 November at 8am.

He will talk about the financial challenges facing sports clubs – and the questions that fans should be asking their clubs if they want them to survive.

Guilfoyle will cover how sports rules affect administrations; give behind the scenes insights into the rescues of sports clubs; and look at the chances of survival of clubs in financial difficulty today.  He will also debate what lessons can be learnt for businesses and their clients.

He said:  “People are passionate about their clubs and want to ensure they survive.  Professionals could become more involved in challenging the running of their clubs and increase the chances of their survival.

“The questions that need asking are whether the club can pay its wage bills; whether it’s maximising commercial income; is part of the community; what the plans are for supporter involvement; and who owns the grounds?”

Places are free but must be pre-booked – call Katie Redshaw on 0114 275 5033.
