A Harrogate independent gym has been named the best in the north of England for the second time as it prepares to celebrate its 10th anniversary with new membership offers to mark the evolution of its unique health and fitness centre.
Gambaru has again been named the Regional Gym of the Year for the North of England at the National Fitness Awards, beating off stiff competition from national chains, council gyms and independents.
The 24 hour gym on Station Parade has also been chosen to be the UK showcase site for the latest state-of-the-art “smart” gym and cardio equipment. The equipment is the next generation in fitness and automatically adjusts to your personal training needs, records your training and then updates your progress via the cloud to the latest range of fitness apps.
Owner and personal trainer Jonathan Walker says: “The new eGym equipment is the most exciting development I’ve seen in 25 years in the industry, it not only tracks your progress but two 30 minute circuits a week will meet most people’s fitness needs. We are proud to be the UK show site, we’ve invested 10 years to create a gym with members of all ages, all walks of life and all levels of fitness and we are there now.
“To win the National Fitness Award twice is unheard of and it’s recognition that we are getting it right. Gambaru has a simple philosophy; we aim to be welcoming to all and to create an environment and inclusive approach that motivates people to be the best they can be.”
The award comes at a defining moment for Gambaru and its uniquely themed healthy urban café NJ’s. Just two weeks after Gambaru’s own Adversity Awards at the Old Swan celebrated the achievements’ of 42 young people across the community, this award heaped praise on the gym for its commitment to the community and its members, saying: “Gambaru is a gym that truly cares about changing the lives of its members.”
Jonathan adds: “We have a unique offer, an award winning gym, an NYCC award winning healthy urban café, a friendly uplifting environment and state of the art equipment. Our members range from 14 to 95, we have space for more and have a ‘free five day trial’ for people to try us out.”
To celebrate its success, Gambaru are launching a series of 10th anniversary offers which start with a limited number of one-off 12 month memberships at £299.
Gambaru is open 24 hours a day and offers a range of state-of-the-art equipment, women’s only training areas, a range of fitness classes, a dedicated free weights zone, treatments, supplements, clothing and equipment. It is complemented by the award winning licensed NJs healthy eating restaurant that offers a range of meals, snacks, speciality teas and coffees, smoothies and drinks. NJs also has free meeting spaces for businesses and organisations.
