Ryan Robinson has been appointed director at James Peters solicitors, a Sheffield-based division of The P&A Group. He forms part of the firm’s one stop shop for debt collection and will offer a new service for corporates to analyse the quality of their debtors and focus litigation where it will bring the best returns.
Robinson qualified with Addleshaw Booth (now Addleshaw Goddard) and worked as a property lawyer with Hammonds and Schofield Sweeney. Since 2007 he was a senior manager with the government-owned UK Asset Resolution (formerly Northern Rock and Bradford & Bingley) disposing of assets and realising loans.
Robinson has developed a process to analyse the quality and finances of debtors and only litigate where there is a high chance of return. He said: “Most credit control departments send out blanket solicitors’ letters, when a high percentage of those debtors have no money to pay. The cost of litigation is just adding to the debt burden.
“We have a toolkit to make sure litigation is focused where it will bring the best returns.”
Jeremy Priestley, managing partner at The P&A Group, said: “In this tough economy, we are helping businesses to bring in cash at the minimal cost. Ryan is extremely experienced in ensuring companies manage this process efficiently and don’t waste time, energy and money where they will not get a return.”
The P&A Group is a leading specialist business turnaround and insolvency firm with offices across the UK and Ireland, including London. Their support for businesses includes restructuring, finance brokering, debt collection and selling assets.
