A Uruguayan businesswomen who is an expert in Latin American trade is joining a host of Yorkshire exporters at a free breakfast event in Leeds on the eve of the Olympics to share her insights into international trade and urge companies to look beyond Brazil.
Gabriela Castro-Fontoura of Sunny Sky Solutions will be at Shulmans Solicitors in Leeds on Tuesday, June 14, for a breakfast debate that will look at the untapped opportunities across Latin America, which are often far simpler to win than the heavily promoted trade deals in Brazil.
She will be joined at the event by a range of Yorkshire business leaders who have already found success in Latin America and they will be sharing their experiences and tips for others looking for new overseas opportunities.
Speaking will be: Gordon MacRae, special projects manager at Sheffield manufacturing business Gripple; Sharon Ratcliffe, commercial manager at PBS International, a technical fabric manufacturer in Scarborough; and international law specialist Rob Lucas, a partner at Shulmans.
Business leaders from across Yorkshire are being invited to attend the event so they can get some unique insights, make lucrative contacts and ask questions from the highly experienced panel.
Gabriela lived in Skipton, Yorkshire, for six years and created Sunny Sky Solutions in the county to help local businesses access opportunities in Latin America.
Gabriela says: “Brazil has been heralded as a land of opportunity but the reality for many is that it can be an extremely challenging market to crack. However, there are some amazing opportunities in the other Latin American countries and these can be much easier to break into.
“I work with a number of businesses from across Yorkshire and the UK and I’ll be sharing their stories, the lessons you need to know and, most importantly, some of the best opportunities that are currently open to Yorkshire business leaders.
“I’m really excited to be returning to Yorkshire to speak. Brand Britain is extremely popular in Latin America and I’m hoping my experiences and insights will inspire others to seize on a new world of opportunity.”
The event runs from 8.30am to 10am at Shulmans Solicitors, 10 Wellington Place, Leeds LS1 4AP, and is free to attend. To register for a place, please email sandy@northernlightspr.com.
